About Us

This website, Diabetes.Blog.com, was started May 4, 2005, as a "blogcompanion" to our main website, the Diabetes Monitor. It is the mission of the Diabetes Monitor to

  • Provide information about diabetes for patients and their families, and offer useful advice about the prevention and management of diabetic complications.
  • Provide resources for patients, families, diabetes educators and other health care professionals.
  • Support people with diabetes in their pursuit of quality of life.

Diabetes.Blog.com was originally conceived as a medium for Dr. Bill (the Medical Director of DiabetesMonitor.com) to express his personal opinions on controversial topics related to diabetes. However, it has evolved into a series of Discussion Forums about various aspects of diabetes, and has been the subject of an Abstract he submitted to the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists: click here to read the abstract.

Dr. Bill's brief bio:

Dr. Quick is a Senior Medical Director at i3 Research, where he is involved in clinical research about diabetes. He previously was in solo private practice, then worked for several pharmaceutical companies in pharmacovigilance, where he was involved in the development of Lantus, Apidra, and Exubera (among other products). He has been a specialist in diabetes care and endocrinology for over 30 years. Bill, as he prefers to be called, is a nationally-known expert in diabetes education, and is a past president of the American Association of Diabetes Educators.
