Hi and Happy Thanksgiving week to everyone. Geri,I can tell what a good idea it is to stop and think about what we are grateful and thankful for, because I really do need to stop a minute and think! I guess most important is that my family is close enough to come see me for the holidays and, better yet, wants to. I’m really thankful that my niece in Australia is coming home for Christmas. And I’m grateful for friends who visit, help, call, and post on the blog. Isn’t it wonderful how we can keep making new friends here? So, I’m grateful to Dr. Bill for making it possible, too. And I’m thankful that I have work that I like (even in the drudgery periods)to keep me going.
Greetings from Angela in Iowa
It has been 2 1/2 months now with no job and no computer. My floks God Bless them gave me this new computer as an early Christmas present.
I have notice a maked increase in my morning blood sugar readings they are now up to 160 which is mcuh more than the 110-120 before I lost my job I am assuming this is stress related. I alos have no health insurance as I have no job so I am thinking of increasing my Metformin ER from 1 500 in the evening to 1 in the evening and 1 in the morning
I sure hope this helps. I have gained weight I am sure it is the stress and bordom of not having a job.
Sio Many new people on the Blog I wonder if DR. Bill has a count of registerd users?
I am so glad to be back with you all it really helps my spirits.
Welcome back Angela in Iowa! I’m so sorry you haven’t found a new job. Why not come back to the Byetta or other islands and post? And yes, stress can make your bg numbers increase but you can help to combat it by exercising more and eating healthy. I don’t think you should increase your meds without speaking to a doctor. Have you thought about going to a clinic or hospital for help? When my friend didn’t have medical insurance she went to a free clinic and they gave her meds and testing supplies for free. Check out the Paying for Diabetes island for more advice. Good luck and welcome back. Annie
ANGELA: I ditto what Toneylee says including the welcome back. Does this mean you are no longer on the spit because of lack of income and insurance? Hope things work out for you soon.

I was lucky enough to have both my family and endo doctors give me 5 months of byetta samples in total so I am still on the Byetta and for the Metformin ER that is cheap at Kmart 3 months 90 pills for 11 dollars. No insurance but I am checking into a low cost clinic so see what they might have ot offer until I can find a job.
Thanks for the welcome back

ANGELA: It is a boost to my spirits, too, to see your name again. I have really missed the studies and articles you always post and didn’t know why I haven’t been seeing them. Yes, welcome back, and just keep telling yourself this glitch in your life is not forever. (I sure am sorry it happened, and I wish you a good job quick!) Merry Christmas early! About the computer, I mean.
Angela asked “I wonder if Dr. Bill has a count of registered users?”
No, I don’t, but I’ll check with the support staff at Blog.com to see if they have this information.
The closest I can come is the number of people who’ve answered polls such as How did you hear about the Diabetes.Blog.com website? which has had 680 replies as of now…
BTW, if you are reading this, and haven’t answered this poll, please do so!
My cardiologiest has prescribed Byetta, but my health insurance will not cover its cost. Anyone else experienced this? If so, what did you do?
Please respond to account66@cox.net
Thank you

C. PHILLIPS: I have answered you in “Paying for Diabetes”. You can find the link for that forum in column #8 to the right.
Just an update.
As many of you know I have been unemployed for 3 months now so as it goes no insurance But there are some nice pay as you can almost free clinics I was lucky enough to find one and I went the other day as I had not seen my regular doctor or my endo and it was time for my A1C.
I was honest with them and told them I had been very bad in my eating as I am stuck at home most of the time and her in Iowa it is just to slick outside with the snow and rain I have not done any walking in awhile.
Any way my point is Byetta must be working overtime because my A1C was 5 just the same as when I was beening good.
It blew me away as I found out I had gained 12 lbs. in the last 3 months.
I ask if they could do a C-Peptide test and they ask me to come back in 6 weeks and they would. I had a C-Peptided done at my request in 2005 when I 1st found out I had Diabetes so I really want to find out if my Beta cells are regrowing?
Has anyone else had Beta cells regenerate?
Angela: I just want to say that is wonderful news! Even if you are eating badly sometimes, you must be doing something right. And…more evidence that the spit is like a miracle!
Angela in Iowa, Type 2 since 11-05, 500 Metformin er 1 daily, Byetta 10mg 2 daily, boniva 1 month,
I’m also happy for you about the A1C. I don’t know about the C-Peptide test, my endo thinks it’s a waste, but I would like to know if there is a change, especially now that my numbers are doing better. I’ll try to request it again when I see him next year.
Congrats again.

Everyone Including Dr Bill:
It’s easy to change your signature line to include meds when you post and click on other just add the info or change stuff then. But you must send the post for it to be remembered for the next time. That’s all I do when I need to change something.
