3 - I was put on the spit on Apr. 29 so I'm just starting my 2nd mo on 5. So far mainly just nausea, but it's hard to tell when it will hit. I try to eat small meals every few hrs and that seems to help. I have lost about 5 lbs. which is 5 more than I've ever been able to lose while on all that insulin. I have more hope now that I will be able to get rid of the extra weight and reduce my big belly for the first time. I eat well and exercise 5 days per week but was not able to lose even a lb. My bs are coming down altho I can't get them consistent. But with time I have hope that that will change too. I've read alot of the previous posts and have learned so much. Thank you for this blog. Oh and this my first time ever posting on a blog.

As most of you know the man my son-in-law had the accident with died from his injuries. My son-in-law is injured to the point of them telling us He is in God's hands because nothing more medically can be done.Your continue prayers for the victums family and for my daughter and her small children are aprreciated and I just want to say "God Bless All Of You" the e-mails and card e-mails touch me from the bottom of my heart. Hi fellow lizards,

I had an appointment with my Endo this morning and I had to share the news. I have been off Byetta since April 8 and my numbers have been good. I have had to cut back the carbs at night, but that has been the only real change since stopping the Byetta. I have still been testing my blood glucose 4 times a day to keep a close record.

This morning, my endo said that I was a "poster child" for exercise and losing weight. I have lost 95 pounds in the last year. He was amazed that my HDL cholesterol (the good one) has gone from 17 to 50 in the past two years and my LDL has gone from 157 to 37.

My endo is now my "former endo" because he said I don't need to make any more appointments. He said that I know where to find him, but he does not need to see me any more. He did tell me to test my blood about once a week.

I KNOW that Byetta has been a very important part of a life change for me over the last year. I just want to encourage everyone to look beyond any temporary setbacks or discomfort to see a long range plan. For me, I am now off any diabetic medications, and I was also instructed to stop my cholesterol medication last month too. The Byetta helped me through the weight loss, and I believe that it gave me the hope I needed to keep up the changes. I don't have any evidence that it helped regenerate my beta cells, but I know it gave me hope that I would get off the meds. Now, I'm off.

I just had to celebrate the good news with my extended family here on the blog.
